Meaningful Silence
The Twenty Sixth Story
Both were students of Ayatollah Qazi;
They were meeting each other after a long time.
I was sure that after so many years, they had a lot to say to each other,
I prepared recording microphone to record their words.
They hugged,
Their teary eyes showed separation and loneliness.
They sat down, facing each other, and after a brief greeting, they went silent.
I waited,
but no word was exchanged.
After an hour, their meeting was over, the guest left our home.
I did not understand what was going on!
Surprised, I asked, “Why didn’t he speak a word?
Why didn’t you say anything?”
He said, “We said what we were supposed to say,
All of our words,
but through silence ..."
