Grand Ayatollah Agha Dhiya al-Deen Iraqi

He was born in the city of Sultan-Abad (Arak, Iran) in the year 1862
Signs of his intelligence and genius were obvious during the first years of his study.

   Grand Ayatollah Agha Dhiya al-Deen Iraqi was born in the city of Sultan-Abad (Persian Iraq, Arak) in the year 1862. He completed his primary studies in his home town then migrated to the city of Najaf in order to complete his study. He attended classes by great Ayatollahs such as Sayyid Muhammad Fisharki, Akhund Khorasani, Sayyid Kadhim Yazdi and the teacher of the Shari'a, al-Isfahani.

He started teaching at an early age, and many students gathered around him because of his oratory and the ease of his explanation.

      Signs of his intelligence and genius were obvious during the first years of his study. He started teaching at an early age, and many students gathered around him because of his oratory and the ease of his explanation. He distinguished himself among great teachers following the demise of his teacher, the late Akhund Khorasani. He studied fiqh and Usul for more than thirty years and many students were nurtured by him. Some of them became later on sources for taqlid. Among his works, we can point out to a book containing articles about Usul. Finally, this great scholar passed away in the city of Najaf on December 7, 1942.
